He`ll have to see a Doctor. It could be a Gall Bladder attack or worse Pancreatic problems. Both of these can be brought on by over drinking.
References :
Gallbladder attacks are painful. They feel like someone has kicked you hard and you can't stand up straight. The pain is in the upper mid right of the stomach. Mine was near center as well. It's like the worst case of intestinal gas you could have but without the gas. At the time I was doubled over I would say it was on par with labor pain. Nothing I did made it better.

Without the pain, I would say it's probably not gallbladder but it's not impossible.
References :
Gall bladder attack is most usually a strong pain on your right abdomen a few inches up and to the right of your belly button. It usually shows up in people about 50 years old or older who have a meal that is rich in fats (which make your body produce a lot of gall to digest that fat).

It sounds more like he ate some undercooked sausage and got food poisoning.
References :
If he showed up at an Emergency Room and pointed to that exact spot I mentioned and said it hurts there he would get an initial diagnosis of gall bladder attack within seconds. No pain there and gall bladder attack is much less likely.

Before I had my gall bladder out my only symptom was the most painful ache in my liver area. It was honestly more painful than childbirth. I had never experienced diarehha and vomitting with it but its not impossible I guess...my guess would be that he just had a stomach flu.
References :
He'd know if it was gall bladder. He'd be in excruciating pain and the vomiting, burps and runs would be the least of his worries. Sounds like alcohol poisoning but 2 days later? maybe just the flu
